How old do you have to be to take karate at Liberty's?

  • The minimum age for students is six years.  Special exceptions to those who can demonstrate the discipline and attention required during classes.

Are there separate classes for beginners?

  • All of our classes incorporate all students from all ranks at the same time.  We feel that this creates a more effective learning environment for beginners.

Do you have a set structure for each class?

  • Our goal is to keep the interest of our students while maintaining a variety of activities including Kata, sparring, techniques, and self defense.

Do you have to attend both nights?

  • Full attendance is strongly recommended in order to advance in any martial art.  Missed classes can demonstrate a lack of commitment and slows the learning process.

How long does it take to get a Black Belt?

  • Each student will vary in the length of time they take to achieve advancement at all levels, including black.  We like to think it's about the journey and not the destination.

How old do you have to be for the Adult Class?

  • Age is not a particular consideration for the adult class.  An individial's size and current skills will determine their ability to enter at the adult level.

Do you teach Martial Arts Weapons classes?

  • We offer Martial Arts Weapons classes to intermediate and advanced students.

What do you look for in students being considered for grading?

  • Requirements for gradings can be found on our site.  Click here for more information.

Do you offer a family discount?

  • Yes we do.  $5 / month discounted for each additional family member.

Do you compete in any tournaments?

  • Liberty's Karate participates in several tournaments throughout the year.  We even host a tournament of our own every May.

When is registration time for Liberty's Karate?

  • We accept new students throughout the entire year.

Can belts be kept if I come from another club?

  • Belts from previous clubs can be retained if the student participated in a Karate program.

Will there be any physical contact?

  • Physical contact does occur during classes.  Students are expected to purchase the required protective equipment.

Are your instructors trained in first aid?

  • Several instructors are certified in first aid and CPR.  The safety of our students is of utmost concern to Liberty's Karate.
